General Guidelines
- Abstract submission is open online until the end of February 14, 2025 (GMT +8).
- MOSC 2025 accepts abstracts for:
- Free paper (oral presentation)
- E-poster
- Video (please refer to video guidelines)
- All abstracts must be submitted exclusively in ENGLISH.
- Submission is ONLY through the online abstract submission system. Abstracts sent by post, email, fax, or any other method will NOT be accepted.
- FIRST AUTHOR (Presenting Author): The first author listed will serve as the presenting author. This individual is required to register for the Congress, pay the full registration fee, attend the event, and deliver the presentation.
- Please provide an accurate email address for the first author (presenting author). All communications will be sent to this email address.
- There is no limit on number of submissions.
- Please provide full names and affiliations for all authors as you wish them to appear in any publications. Initials are only acceptable for middle names, if applicable.
For example: Nurul L Salim (Nurul Laila Salim), or Tan BH (Tan Beng Hong), or Valarmathy V (Valarmathy Vaiyavari).
- Abstract Title: The title should be concise and free of abbreviations.
- Abstract Content: The body of the abstract (excluding title, authors, and affiliations) should follow these headings: PURPOSE, METHODS, RESULTS, and CONCLUSIONS.
- The abstract should not exceed 250 words excluding the title, authors, and affiliations.
- Graphs, tables, images, or references should not be included in the abstract.
- Define all abbreviations upon first use, placing the full term in parentheses.
- Authors are responsible for submitting abstracts with correct spelling and grammar. The Selection Committee reserves the right to edit abstracts that contain significant spelling or grammatical errors.
- Please choose the appropriate subcategory for your abstract.
- Upon successful submission, an electronic receipt will be sent with an abstract reference number for correspondence. If you do not receive this acknowledgment within 24 hours, please contact the Abstract Secretariat at [email protected]
- The Selection Committee strongly advises early submission to avoid system congestion or delays.
- Late submissions will NOT be considered.
- All submitted abstracts will undergo peer review by the Selection Committee. The review process is confidential, and the decision is FINAL.
- Authors will be notified of the abstract selection results by Friday, 28 February 2025
- Authors may be given the opportunity to change the presentation format as a condition of acceptance.
- Upon submission of the abstract, revision can still be done until end of Friday, 14 February 2025. Please note that only the latest version will be reviewed.
- MOSC 2025 retains the copyright to all materials presented at the Congress and may reproduce these materials in any form for distribution.
- All submitted abstracts are considered to be published in the Malaysian Journal of Ophthalmology (MyJO) unless the author opts out. Please click this selection in the system to OPT OUT.
- Accepted First Authors MUST complete the registration payment to present at the congress.
- To submit an abstract, you may complete the registration process without immediate payment. Payment will only be required after your abstract has been accepted (within the stipulated deadline).
Free Paper Guidelines
- Free paper submissions require an oral presentation. Accepted authors will be asked to present a 5-8 minute talk at the Congress.
- If "Free Paper" is selected as the first preference and "E-Poster" as the secondary preference, authors will have the option to have the abstract considered for E-poster presentation if it is not accepted as a free paper. Further details will be provided upon the acceptance of abstracts.
- The author will be notified if the abstract is accepted as a free paper. The duration of the presentation, time, and venue for the presentation will be informed through the corresponding author’s email.
- Please prepare the oral presentation as a PowerPoint file to be delivered during the congress.
E-Poster Guidelines
- Accepted abstracts for e-posters must be prepared in a strict 1-page A4 vertical PDF format. Further details will be provided upon the acceptance of abstracts.
- There will be a selection for e-poster discussion. If you are selected, you are required to prepare a 3-minute oral presentation. You will be notified of the time and venue for the presentation through the corresponding author’s email.
- All accepted e-posters must be uploaded through the abstract submission system by end of Friday, 4 April 2025.
Video Guidelines
- Video submission must be according to categories; surgical procedures, clinical assessment/technique, advocacy/public awareness and education.
- Abstract Title: The title should be concise and free of abbreviations.
- Abstract Content: The body of the abstract (excluding title, authors, and affiliations) should follow these headings: purpose and brief summary.
- The abstract should not exceed 150 words excluding the title, authors, and affiliations.
- Accepted abstracts for videos must be prepared in MP4 format and to be submitted by end of Friday, 4 April 2025. Further details will be provided upon the acceptance of abstracts.
- The duration of video recording should not exceed 2 minutes.
- All video submissions must be original. Any form of plagiarism is subjected to direct rejection.
Submission Checklist
Before submitting your abstract, please ensure the following:
- The abstract has a clear, descriptive title.
- The study includes sufficient data leading to conclusive outcomes.
- Names of affiliated institutions, academic institutions, hospitals, eye centers, and individual contributors are removed from the abstract.
- The abstract clearly presents the purpose, methods, results, and conclusions of the study for free papers and e-poster. For video presentation, purpose and brief summary must be clearly outlined.
- The abstract has been proofread and/or edited by a native English speaker.
- The abstract adheres to the word limit.
- Financial disclosures for all authors have been included.
